Men & Quilting?

Uh men, give them enough free time and they will do a lot of silly things, take Bob from the USA for instance. This guy is worried that a magnitude 7.3 earthquake will bring society to its knees and people will turn violent bringing about doomsday. Do you know what bob does with his free time nowadays? Bob spends approximately $ 150,000 each year buying food, guns and other survival gear.

In my opinion Bob has too much free time in his hands, that’s why he wastes time and money on the apocalypse. I know the movies paint a terrifying picture of the end of all things, but ask yourself this, if the world is going to end what can you do to stop it? The answer is simply nothing, therefore its best to devote your time and money to other things.

I recommend quilting, I know quilting sounds like an exclusive club for grandmothers and women, but you should know that if you start quilting now you will enjoy a lot of benefits such as:

  • Quilting improves your physical and mental wellbeing
  • It improves your emotional wellbeing
  • It improves creativity
  • Women will love you especially middle aged ladies
  • You can make money off it
  • Quilting is easy to learn

Just overlook or ignore the unseen gender barrier that men have created to distance themselves from quilting, oh and the awkward silence you will get from your friends when you tell them that you have started quilting.

There is a common belief that men don’t quilt, they dig holes, buy guns, drive trucks, play soccer and do other things that are considered manly, look at it this way, it’s not common for men to sit in a circle and talk about quilting related topics. They would rather argue about soccer, rant about their bosses riding them, talk about women and others are into video games and such.

How to make quilting manly

Most men assume that quilting patterns are only limited to cutesy flowers and unicorns, but it doesn’t have to be, if you are creative enough you can quilt the manliest quilt ever. There are millions of manly quilting patterns that you can download or copy, the idea is to not look at it as a female thing but to enjoy quilting as a pass time activity.

If you are in the UK and need a motivating factor that will get you into quilting you should know that handmade quilts sell for as much as £ 300.00, this means that you can make a lot of money from quilting if you get good enough. Try to think outside the box and create patterns that people want, this will get you recognition and fans.

The best part about quilting is it doesn’t require any special skills; all you have to do is learn how to sew. The problem is people will judge you especially your friends, therefore the best thing to do is, don’t act feminine when quilting.
